Trenton Coca Cola and CARB Night at I-35 Speedway in Winston, MO

E-Modified would charge to the track with a loaded field of competitors with many different leaders and action galore. Heat winner Manlee Lamar #4M would jump to the early lead until problems in turn two would send him to the back of the field turning the lead over to Chris Mercer #13. Mercer would appear to have the car to beat until Randy Smith Jr #75X would battle through traffic and challenge for the top spot. Smith would take the lead holding off the hard charge of second place finisher and other heat winner J J Baumli #46 who would come from a tenth starting position. Smith would celebrate in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle as he would claim the victory. As Baumli placed second, Ben Stockton #33s, who was in the mix for the win the entire race would finish a very close third with Junior Goepferich #5J ending the feature fourth. One time leader Mercer would recover from a spin in turn one to place fifth. Other heat race winner was #007 of Bond, James Bond.

Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers would see action at I-35 Speedway for the second week in a row and crown a different winner. Heat winner Jack Simmons #J2 would put his Studebaker out from for the majority of the race until lap traffic would come into play late in the feature. Ron Lefholz #20L, better known as “Groovy”, would take the top spot in lap traffic never relinquishing claiming the win. Simmons would come home second with the “Wildman” Andy Wiles #53 a close third on the night. Charlie Kaus #7C would end the night fourth with the prior week’s feature winner Chris Heitman #39 rounding out the night’s top five. Other heat race winner was the 1956 Chevy #3 driven by Andrew Buffington.

Grand National would see the battle of the brothers as Donnie Brown #26 and John Brown #36J, both of Lancaster, Kansas duel for the front. Point leader Donnie Brown would take the front early until John Brown would work through traffic running Donnie down and challenging on the inside for the lead. On a late race caution, Donnie Brown would get a great restart and see John Brown have to battle Chad Fuller #0R for second allowing him to slip away a few car lengths from the field. Donnie Brown would pick up the feature win with John Brown second and Fuller third. Fourth would see Billie Hoover #97 with heat winner John Hanson #54 placing a solid fifth on the night.

With the largest class of the night, Pure Stock would not disappoint with great racing action throughout the entire field. Heat winner Conner Masoner #47X would take the early lead until going through the spin cycle in turn one and two sending him to the rear of the field. Other heat winner Cody King #29 would take the front and never look back on his way to his third win of 2017 at I-35 Speedway. King would be challenged late by point leader Cletus Murray #21M who would have to work traffic and run out of laps placing second. Beau Wells continues to impress in the old “Triple Nickel” #555 racing his way to third. Conner Masoner would recover from his early race spin to place fourth with Colten Ishmael #17i finishing fifth.

Sport Compact was short and sweet with Austin King #53winning both heat and feature on this night of competition. Isaiah Denton #8 in his first race at I-35 would come home in the second position.

USRA B-Modifieds would see the very “Best of the Best” battle it out for the win. Heat winners Doug Keller #7 and Randy Ainsworth #57 would race side by side early with Ainsworth high and Keller low for the lead until Keller would gain the advantage. Tim Eaton #211 would work his way through traffic and challenge Keller working the extreme low line as the two would race side by side and wheel to wheel for the front. Keller would not be denied as the two raced cleanly to the checkers with Keller winning and parking in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle. Eaton would place second with Ed Noll #15 charging to the front placing third. Ainsworth would fade slightly to place fourth with Daniel Harris #07, who started last on the field placing an impressive fifth.

USRA Stock Car would see the familiar face of Dean Wray #77 pick up his thirteenth feature win at I-35 this 2017 racing season. Wray would not be challenged as great racing action developed behind the leader. Gary Donaldson #28D and heat winner Jon Boller Jr #20X would thrill the fans with side by side racing action to the checkers with Boller high and Donaldson low with the #28D taking second holding Boller to third. One time leader Sam Scott #93 would recover from an early race spin to place fourth with gene Stigall #S20 rounding out the night’s top five.

USRA Modifieds would see a great race as heat winner Derrick Hicks #78 would lead from green flag to checkered flag claiming his second win of 2017 at I-35 Speedway. Hicks would be challenged every lap by other heat winner and second place finisher Shayne Bailey #7 with current point leader Dennis Elliott #29 third. Nic Hanes #17X continues to be a front runner as he would place fourth with Clay Hale #22H a solid and consistent fifth place showing.
