I-35 Speedway Announces 2011 Slate

Philip Wilson

After another successful season for I-35 Speedway management, track owners have decided to include an opening night special and a season ending special event for fans and drivers.

The season will kick off on Saturday, March 26th with our annual practice event where race teams can come and tweak the setups before the points season gets under way. Practice will run from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Gates open at 1 p.m.

For the first time since 2003 the United States Modified Touring Series will pay a visit to I-35 Speedway. See the local boys of I-35 try to defend their turf against USMTS stars like Kelly Shryock, Ryan Gustin, Tommy Myer and defending champion Jason Hughes. This event will take place on Saturday, April 2nd.

The next week on Saturday, April 9th we will have our season opening points race. Saturday, June 11th will be our annual C.A.R.B. night at I-35, Saturday, July 2nd will be our Fireworks Spectacular, Saturday, July 16th will be our Mid-Season Points Championship event, Saturday, July 30th will be our Larry Kaster Celebration, Saturday, September 10th will be a non-points race night and Saturday, September 24th will be our Season Points Championship Night.

Usually the Season Points Championship Night would be the end of the season at I-35 but not in 2011. Added this season is a two day event called the Show Me Spectacular. This will be held on Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st. This event will feature the Sportmods with the Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks.

Don't forget coming up this month on Saturday, January 22nd we will have our Drivers Meeting beginning at 10 a.m. at the Smithville Mo. Legion Hall.

Mark your calenders and make your plans and don't miss any of the action at I-35 Speedway in 2011!!!
