Cheevers, Fair and Dotson capture first I-35 Speedway checkers!
It was open fun night at I-35 Speedway with the IMCA Super Nationals going on in Boone Iowa, there were no points on he line and we had a great turnout in all five of our classes.
Colt Cheevers all the way from Macks Creek Missouri made his first trip to I-35 Speedway a successful one as he took home the win in the Sportmod/B-mod class. Cheevers the Missouri state B-mod points leader had to come from his eighth starting spot to do so and had to get by a very fast Clint Baker. Baker came back from a long layoff to come home second with Gene Claxton third. Mark Botts gained fifteen spots to win the hard charger.
In the Hobby Stocks Trenton Missouri's Bruce Fair took home his first career win tonight as he got by last years open night winner Greg Kuehn when Kuehn blew a tire halfway in the feature tonight. Fair held off Mich Ross who finished second and Matthew Lance would take the third spot. Mike Youngs took home the hard chargr award.
AAA Transmission added an extra $500 to the purse in the Grand Nationals tonight as Tim Shields took home the $750 check. Shields had a battle with the owner of AAA Transmissions Mike Taylor Jr. before he broke. Chad Clancy got up to battle Shields for a few laps and held on to second with Travis Walker third. Gary Donaldson took home the hard charger.
Thomas Roberts started the season ripping off five wins early on. Roberts found his way back to victory lane tonight cashing in on a $400 payday. Roberts snuck by Gene Stigall to capture the win. Stigall held on to second, holding off Kevin Anderson who came home third. Gary St. Clair made his return a successful one as he took home the hard charger award.
A-Modified driver Isaac Dotson captured his first ever I-35 Speedway win as he was fresh off his win at the Northwest Missouri State Fair last Monday. Dotson had a great battle swapping the lead with Dennis Elliott who held on to third and Steven Glenn came home fourth. Mike Dotson took home the hard charger award.
