Fans braved the 100 plus degree temps on McCarthy Auto Group night at I-35 Speedway. With the heat on this very long week the track crew had a very good track for the drivers of I-35 to sling dirt on and the end of the night festivities got a standing ovation from the I-35 faithful.

In the IMCA Stock Cars early on it was Jon Boller III, last years track champion Gene Stigall and last years IMCA Hobby Stock track champion Greg Keuhn battling it out. Stigall would eventually wrestle the lead away from Keuhn and looked well on his way to winning his second feature of 2012 before he would lose his motor halfway through the race. Keuhn (Trenton) would inherit the lead and would motor away from Kevin Anderson and Nic Hanes to win his first career IMCA Stock Car feature. Anderson (Kansas City) would finish second, points leader Jon Boller Jr. (St. Joseph) had a great points night finishing third, hard charging Jeff Dixon (Jamesport) finished fourth and Nic Hanes (Trenton) continues his success since moving into an IMCA Stock Cars finishing fifth. Dixon gained seven spots to win the hard charger.

Austin Johnson (Kansas City) led wire to wire and won his second "Border War" Grand National feature of his young career with his McCarty Auto Group crate motor. And just like his first win he had to hold off teammate Bud Wilson to do it. Johnson had a straightaway lead before a late caution wiped away his lead and bunched the cars back up. Johnson would pull away on the restart for the win. Wilson (Trenton) finished second, Jason Anderson (Kansas City) with a good run finishing third, Travis Walker (Cameron) was fourth and Thomas Roberts (Kidder) rebounded from a flat and finished fifth. Wilson pick up another hard charger.

Doug Keller capped off a great weekend by winning the IMCA SportMod feature at I-35 Speedway. Heading into the night Mike Tanner had a slim four point lead over Randy Ainsworth. Tanner got to the front quickly and looked well on his way to another win, but another transmission failure would wipe away his win and his point lead. Keller (St. Joseph) was in the right place at the right time and won his first IMCA SportMod feature of the season. Ainsworth (Excelsior Springs) finished second and gained a five point lead over Tanner, Clint Baker (Meadville) was third, Chad Shaw (Trimble) finished fourth and Jeremy Pittsenbarger (Cameron) was fifth. Chad Shaw gained eleven spots to win the hard charger.

Billie Hoover (Stewartsville) won his second career IMCA Hobby Stock feature and he did it in impressive fashion holding off and hard charging, hungry youngster in Alex Anderson. Coming to the checkered flag Hoover and Anderson were side by side out of turn four but one little slip up by Anderson would kill his momentum and Hoover motored past for the win. Anderson (Trenton) would hold on for second, Brian Stich (Topeka, KS) finished tird in his first appearence at I-35, Anthony Fletchall (Grant City) was fourth and Mich Ross (Maysville) was fifth. Anderson gained eleven spots to win the hard charger.

"Mr. Excitement" Jim Cameron (Cameron) cruised to his third IMCA Modified feature win of 2012. Cameron held the bottom of the track as the field went three and sometimes four wide bnehind him. Cameron held off Buz Kaster on a late restart to pick up the win. Kaster (Kansas City, KS) would finish second, Jason Estes (Winston) would finish third, Jim Peeler (Milan) was fourth and Steven Glenn (Hamilton) rallied to finish fifth. Kaster gained seven spots to win the hard charger.
