Stotts, Nichols, Anderson, Hustead and Woods ride to victory lane at I-35 Speedway PDF Print

Winston MO (04-07-12) Night number two got off without a hitch on Michael Johnson Construction night at I-35 Speedway. 90 cars checked into the pits and put on a great show for the I-35 faithfuls.

Last season Jeff Stotts finished a career best second in the points standings in the IMCA SportMods but it was his only season without a win, something that ate at the Trenton, Missouri driver this off season. Tonight Stotts put the old number 12 machine out front and never looked back picking up his first win of 2012. Stotts was challenged late by second place finisher Truman Asher of St. Joseph, Missouri. Last weeks winner Chad Clancy of Smithville was third, Clay Hale from Cameron finished fourth and Mike Tanner from Kansass City, Missouri charged through the field to finish fifth. Tanner gained thirteen spots to win the hard charger.

Harlan, Iowa driver Mike Nichols remembers how to get around I-35 Speedway. Nichols a former 3-time I-35 Speedway Stock Car Champion took home his second consecutive win of 2012 as he found his way around Dean Wray to get the win. Kyle Vanover from Beatrice, Nebraska finished second, Cody Clark from Yorktown, Iowa was third, Jamesport, Missouri's Jeff Dixon was fourth and Eric Rempel came home fifth. Vanover gained eleven spots to win the hard charger.

In Grand National action it was Kansas City, Missouri driver Jason Anderson taking home a late birthday present as he took win number one of the 2012 season. Anderson battled hard with Mike Taylor Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri to nab the checkers. Taylor would finish second, Thomas Roberts of Kidder, Missouri had a good showing in third, Cameron, Missouri driver Travis Walker was fourth and Bud Wilson from Trenton, Missouri came home fifth. Everyone finished where they started so Jason Anderson takes home the hard charger.

Rutledge, Missouri's Eric Hustead made his second trip to I-35 Speedway a successful one as he passed and held off a former I-35 Speedway champion, Eric Stanton to take home the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks. Hustead and Stanton swapped the lead five times in the last two laps but Hustead had the high side advantage coming off turn four on the last lap. Stanton from Hartford, Iowa finished second, third was Mich Ross from Maysville, Missouri, fourth was Andy Coffman from Des Moines, Iowa and Lee Farmer from Bethany, Missouri was fifth. Coffman gained seven spots to win the hard charger.

Young Humeston, Iowa driver Shay Woods took home win number one in the IMCA Modifieds. Woods worked his way around leader Cory Wray halfway through and held off all challenges the rest of the way. Steven Glenn from Hamilton, Missouri finished second, Brookfield, Missouri's Hunter Marriott rebounded from an early spin to come home third, Jeff James from Stanton, Iowa was fourth and Todd Wilson from Spickard, Missouri was fifth. JJ Baumli gained ten spots to win the hard charger award.
