Subject: Stock Car Border War Challenge
In 2010, Lakeside Speedway and I-35 Speedway are introducing the Stock Car Border War Challenge. This challenge will involve the I-35 Speedway Stock Cars competing at Lakeside Speedway in the Factory Stock class and the Lakeside Factory Stock class competing at I-35 Speedway in the Stock Car Class.
We realize there are several differences in the rules beginning with the carburetor rule. Lakeside has a cubic inch limit and I-35 Speedway does not. Lakeside uses the McCreary American Racer and I-35 cars run the Hoosier G60-15. Other rules which are different include the use of weight jacks and roller rockers by the I-35 Stock Car class. Our goal is to allow drivers to compete at both tracks equally without requiring costly changes, eventually coming up with a standard Stock Class set of rules. To compete in this challenge the following will apply:
In 2010 Lakeside Speedway will allow stock cars (meeting the body and floor pan rules of either Lakeside Factory Stock or I-35 Stock Car) to compete with their larger cubic inch and higher compression engines with the following restrictions:
Must run an unaltered two barrel Holley #4412, 500 c.f.m. model or the Holley #7448, 350 c.f.m. carburetor which passes track go/no go gauges. Choke plate may be removed. No vacuum leaks between air cleaner and intake valve. Any adapter plate, and/or spacer, may not exceed 1.015". A maximum .065 gasket may be used on each side of spacer. No "carb" hats or other air flow enhancing devices. No spacer will be allowed between bottom of air cleaner and carburetor. Fuel pump must be in original mounting position. Mechanical only. Belt drive pumps approved. No electric pumps. Only one round air cleaner may be used. Maximum size will be: 14" diameter by 4" thick. Air cleaner top and bottom must be made of solid metal.
For the larger cubic inch and higher compression engines than Lakeside Factory Stock rules or any engines running roller rockers: HEI and MSD ignition systems only and must be connected to a 6800 RPM rev limiting chip or module. No crank triggered ignitions. The following MSD #’s are allowed: P/N 8728, MSD Soft Touch Rev Control, is designed to be used on standard points ignition or inductive ignition systems. This means that the PN8728 can be installed on engines with a GM HEI Ignition, Ford or Chrysler electronic ignition and any standard breaker points system without an MSD box. P/N 8738 MSD Soft Touch Rev Control for use with MSD 6T, 6TN Ignition Boxes. P/N 6420 MSD 6AL Ignition Control Box with Rev Limiter Built-In. P/N 6430, MSD 6 ALN Ignition Control Box with Rev Limiter Built-In. MSD boxes must be out of reach of an unbuckled driver and accessible for tech. Chips may be tested at anytime by the officials and/or exchanged with track supplied chips.
If complying with the Lakeside Factory Stock rules must have on the hood FS for Factory Stock in minimum 4 inch letters read from the driver side of the car indicating your home track for tech purposes. If competing under another track’s rules (CMS, HPT, Thunder Hill, I-35, or Valley) must have SC for Stock Car in minimum 4 inch letters read from the driver side of the car indicating your home track for tech purposes.
Stock Cars from Central Missouri Speedway, Valley Speedway, Heartland Park, or Thunderhill Speedway are welcome to compete in the Border War, following the rules in this bulletin. Your class of car was determined by where you competed and finished highest in points during the 2009 racing season (Lakeside Factory Stock, I-35 Stock Car, Heartland Park, Central Missouri Speedway, Thunder Hill, or Valley Speedway). You must meet the rules of your home track and comply with the rules in the bulletin; this bulletin supersedes your home track rules. New Driver Rule: If you are new to the sport build your car to the rules of what will be your home track, however, understand you will be expected to compete weekly at your home track, otherwise, you will forfeit the right to compete at Lakeside Speedway/I-35 Speedway.
The only approved tires are the BTC (Boubin Tire Company) stamped McCreary American Racer G60 or the Hoosier IMCA G60. No conditioning of tires allowed. The following will be enforced on or after June 7, 2010 to allow time for tires not meeting the rules to be utilized: Tire grinding allowed to knock off glaze. Only the siping created by tire grinding is allowed, no other siping allowed. Regrooving the original tread design diagonal straight lines is allowed.
